Patricia B. "Trish" (Burke) Hannon, 67, of Marion, formerly of Milton, died Sunday October 31, 2004 at home.
Born in Boston, the daughter of the late John and Helen (Sullivan) Burke, she was raised in Milton and was a resident of that town since 1982. She moved to Marion in 1990.
She was a graduate of Boston Girls Latin School, Class of 1955, and Simmons College, Class of 1959. She received a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Suffolk University in 1984.
Mrs. Hannon was formerly employed as the Director of Finance for Barclay, Brown, and Kavanaugh from 1974-1987. She was a restauranteur with a chain of Bob's Big Boys from 1987-1993. She later became a Director of Customer Education for Infinitum Software in Hyannis from 1993-2003. She had also taught business courses at Bentley College and volunteered for the Community Resource Network in Wareham.
She had been active in St. Mary of the Hills Parish in Milton and St. Rita's Parish in Marion, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She had been a Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Leader for many years. She was a member of the Sippican Women's Club and the Beverly Yacht Club, both in Marion.
She loved kayaking in Marion Harbor, beachgoing, playing cards with friends, and traveling, including trips to Barcelona, Spain, Ireland, and the Pacific Northwest. Her favorite time was that spent with her family and was highlighted by time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by three children, Patricia H. Murtha and her husband Donald, of Philadelphia, Susan M. Hannon of Weymouth, and Jamie Hannon of Wolfboro, New Hampshire; three grandsons, Brendan, Ryan, and Colin Murtha; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Helen Dooley and Joanne Nelson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday November 4, 2004 at 10 AM in St. Rita's Church, Front St., Marion. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday November 3, 2004 from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Road, Route 6, Mattapoisett. Interment Milton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Trish's memory may be sent to Community Nurse and Hospice Care, 40 Center St., Fairhaven, MA 02719
