Obituary

Mary Mullen (White) Shaw, 92, of Fairhaven passed away peacefully on Friday April 4, 2014 at Alden Court Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late John J. Shaw.

Born in Swampscott, the daughter of the late Stephen V. and Anna G. (Selinger) White, she had lived in Randolph and Middleboro for many years before moving to Fairhaven in 1983.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church.

Mrs. Shaw was formerly employed as a licensed practical nurse at Taunton State Hospital until her retirement.

She was a graduate of Thayer Academy in Braintree in 1940, Mount Ida College in 1942, and Taunton Vocational School of Practical Nursing in 1959.

Survivors include two sons, John P. Shaw and his wife Mary Ann of Fairhaven, and Joseph R. Shaw and his wife Suzanne of Sandy, Utah; two sisters, Geraldine Irwin of Salem, and Paula Bostrom and her husband Lawrence of Holbrook; four grandchildren, Joel Shaw and his wife Janice of Hubbardston, Damon Shaw and his wife Jane of Maynard, Rebecca Robillard and her husband Marc of Fairhaven, and Joanne Werner and her husband Michael of West Jordan, Utah; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday April 11, 2014 at 10 AM at St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Masses be offered in her memory. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Mattapoisett.
