Frederic A. Cambra, 80, of Westport, died January 8, 2014 unexpectedly, while vacationing in Lakeland, FL. He was the husband of the late Beverly (Belanger) Cambra and the son of the late Albert Cambra and Althea (Hart) Navin.
Mr. Cambra was a United States Navy veteran. He was Highway Surveyor for the Town of Westport for 9 years and worked for the Highway Department until he retired. He was also a commercial fisherman and boat builder.
He was the Lions Club President for several years, a member of the Little Compton Game Club and most recently a member of the Amvets Post 32 in Lakeland, FL. He loved fishing and woodworking and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
Survivors include his daughter Chery Navin and her husband William, his son Charles Cambra and his wife Lisa and his son Albert Cambra, all of Westport; his brother James Cambra and his wife Evelyn of Westport and his sister Lorraine Pudelski of Lakeland, FL. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews, many friends in Westport and Lakeland, FL and his faithful companion, Lemondrop.
He was the father of the late Karen Cambra, Brenda Rogers and Frederic Cambra, Jr., and brother of the late Kathleen Cambra, Albert Cambra and Sharon Nickerson.
Memorial graveside service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport at 11:00 A.M.
