TEMPLE, NH: Catherine E. (McDermott) Gray, age 92, of 22 Fisk Hill Road, died Sunday, October 31, 2004, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Born in Lowell, MA on November 28, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Kate (Malloy) McDermott.
Mrs. Gray Lived in Temple, NH with her daughter Patricia and her husband for 22years.
She was previously a longtime resident of Tewksbury, MA.
Mrs. Gray was a graduate of St. Michaels School in Lowell, MA and Lowell High School. Mrs. Gray continued her education at the Tewksbury Hospital School of Nursing, where she obtained her degree as a registered nurse. She worked as a nurse at Tewksbury State Hospital for 20 years.
During World War II, she worked for the Red Cross taking care of injured troops.
She belonged to the Holy Rosary Society at St. Williams Church in Tewksbury and was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Greenville, NH.
For many years she assisted her husband George, who was the love of her life and died November 1, 1965, with record keeping and roster preparation for the Tewksbury Little League team the Tigers.
She loved music, flowers, baking, making afghans and hooked rugs for family and friends.
She leaves her daughter; Patricia A. Yetman and her husband David of Temple, NH; her grandson; Stephen Greeley and his wife Sandra; her granddaughters; Kelley Carey and her husband James and Lisa A. Yetman; her great grandchildren; Joshua, Catherine, Allison, and Daniel. She also leaves her beloved dog Bailey.
Mrs. Gray was the sister of the late Thomas McDermott.
Calling hours will be held Friday, Nov. 5th from 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at the FARMER & DEE FUNERAL HOME, 16 LEE ST., TEWKSBURY, followed by her Funeral Mass at 12 noon at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery.
