Obituary

Janice H. Carlisle, 68, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.

Memorial services will be held 3 P. M., Sunday, April 6, 2014, at the Ocilla United Methodist Church in Ocilla with the Rev. Clayton Dowd and the Rev. Jay Roberson officiating. Eulogies will be given by Joyce Ashley & Vicki King. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home in Ocilla.

Mrs. Carlisle was born July 21, 1945 in Jacksonville, Florida to Earlene Culpepper Hudson of Ocilla and the late Othella Hudson. She lived in the area all of her life and graduated from Irwin County High School in 1963. She attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and earned her Bachelor’s degree in home economics and child development from Georgia Southern College in 1966. She later furthered her education and earned her Masters degree in counseling from Valdosta State College. Mrs. Carlisle was a long-time educator and counselor with the Irwin County and Ben Hill County Boards of Education. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Ocilla Church of God.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 47 years: Jim Carlisle of Ocilla; daughters: Dawn & Norman Cruikshank of Cleveland and Heather Carlisle of Gainesville; three grandchildren: Carlisle Cruikshank, Collin Cruikshank, and Camille Cruikshank; and a sister: Dianne Hudson Csordas of Ocilla. She was preceded in death by her father: Othella Hudson.
