Obituary

Duxbury – Ruth (Lucas) Sheehy 91, formerly a longtime resident of Abington, died Tuesday April 1 after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Sheehy.

Born and raised in Littleton, NH she was the daughter of the late Jessie and Elizabeth (Tyler) Lucas, and a graduate of Littleton High School.

Ruth had been a resident of Abington for over 40 years and had been a familiar face having worked many years in the cafeteria of Abington High School and over 10 years at the former RIPS paper supply also of Abington. She was an active member of the United Church of Christ.

She was an avid Red Sox fan, loved the challenge of a “good cribbage game” and had enjoyed participating in the local cribbage league.

She is survived by her sons Paul Sheehy and his spouse Dale of Carver and Mark Sheehy and his spouse Kathy of Loudon, NH, and her brother Kenneth Lucas of SC. She is also survived by six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Alan Hiltz and sister of the late Thelma Lee and Pauline Reilly.

Her funeral service will be held Saturday April 12 at 10 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Rockland. Visiting hours will be held Friday April 11 from 5-8 PM.
