BELMONT - Shirley Mae Marden, 87, of Belmont passed away March 28th, 2014 at home surrounded by family.
She was born in San Pedro , California on November 25, 1926 to Edwin and Villa Terrill Hamel. Her family moved cross country to New Hampshire , where she was a resident for the next 71 years.
Shirley was the matriarch of the outgoing Marden clan, who are well established in the Town of Belmont . She was married to Lewis Marden Sr. for 57 years.
In her adult life, Shirley worked for the Laconia State School as a Psychiatric Aide. In her spare time, she was involved with the Belmont Baseball Organization and the Cub Scouts. She was also a volunteer Sunday school teacher.
Shirley is survived by husband Lewis Marden Sr. of Belmont, son James Marden Sr. of Belmont, son Lewis Marden Jr. and his wife Denise Marden of Belmont, son David Marden and his wife Linda Hatch of Belmont, and daughter Barbara Binette and her husband Richard Binette of Belmont. She also leaves behind grandson Christopher Marden of Belmont, granddaughter Felicia Morrissette and her husband Doug Morrissette of Dover, grandaughter Jenna Pearl and her husband Brian Pearl of Gilmanton, granddaughter Casondra Holub and her husband Kyle Holub of Fort Collins, CO, granddaughter Shannon Dyer and her husband David Dyer of Gilford, granddaughter Sarah Marden and her husband Kyle Dupuis of Belmont, grandson James Marden Jr. of Belmont, granddaughter Diane Marden of Belmont, grandson Ed Binette of Belmont, and grandson Joe Binette and his wife Melissa Ramsay McGee of Belmont. Shirley also leaves behind 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Edwin and Villa Terrill Hamel, and by son, Jeff Marden.
There will be no calling hours.
There will be a springtime memorial service for family and friends at the South Road cemetery in Belmont at a later date.
