Obituary

New Bedford – Sarah L. (Hamblin) Waddington, 82, of New Bedford died Sunday, October 31, 2004 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of Robert Waddington.

Mrs. Waddington was born in Nantucket, daughter of the late Oscar and Mary (Jordan) Hamblin, and had resided in New Bedford since 1943. Prior to her retirement in 1983, she was employed as a presser with the Acushnet Company, New Bedford for 32 years. She was a member of the May Nichols Club, Acushnet and enjoyed knitting, puzzles and traveling.

She is survived by: a stepson: Alan Waddington of Fairhaven; a brother: Oscar F. Hamblin of Acushnet; 11 step grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; 2 step great-great grandchildren; and a nephew.

She was the stepmother of the late Leslie Waddington, Robert J. Waddington and Roberta J. Verissimo and sister of the late Thomas E. Hamblin, Margaret H. Souza, John Hamblin, Harriet M. Dexter and her twin brother George Hamblin.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Thursday, November 4, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at the KIRBY FUNERAL HOME, 61 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford.

Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service from 10 – 11 A.M.

Interment will be in Acushnet Cemetery, Acushnet.
