Barbara A. Murphy, 76, of Derry, NH, died Sunday March 30, 2014 in Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry. She was born in Rochester, NH on April 27, 1937, a daughter of the late Aaron and Doris (Springfield) Fickett. A lifelong resident of Derry, she was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Class of 1955. She married her husband Merton in 1955, and had taught for many years at Derry Village School. Mrs. Murphy had also delivered the Derry News with her husband for many years.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra L. DeVenne and her husband Walter of Derry, and Pamela J. Martin of Derry; four grandchildren, John Martin, Jessica Martin, Michelle Martin, and Amanda DeVenne; and one great-granddaughter, Liliana Rose Arboleda. She was predeceased by her husband Merton Murphy in 2010, and her brother Richard A. Fickett in 2013.
Calling hours were held on Wednesday, April 2nd from 5 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services was held on Thursday at 10:00am in the funeral home. The burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry Road.
