Obituary

Buchanan --- Charles M. Sr. (Ret.BFD) of Roslindale and Manomet, Peacefully March 28, 2014. Beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Lake) Buchanan. Loving father of Charles M. Buchanan Jr. and his wife Ellen of Milton, Gayle A. Roddy and her husband James of West Roxbury, Paula E. Venti and her husband Kenneth of Needham, and Karen A. McGill and her husband Kevin of Hingham. Cherished grandfather of Alysa, Patrick, Julie, Elizabeth, Owen, Anne, Brendan, Christopher, Kristen, Katherine and Kelsey; great-grandfather of Malachi and Phinneas. Brother of the late Paul W. “Mike” Buchanan. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Charlie served his country in WWII as a B-17 pilot earning many commendations, among them the Distinguished Flying Cross. He served his city as a member of the Boston Fire Department for 38 years rising to the rank of District Chief. He was a proud member of Local # 718.
Funeral from the Robert J. Lawler and Crosby Funeral Home 1803 Centre St., West Roxbury, on Tuesday, April 1, at 9:00am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Holy Name Church at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours in the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00pm. Interment St. Joseph cemetery.
