McAvoy, Michael R. of Wellesley Hills and Saco, ME. March 27, 2014. Beloved son of Robert E. McAvoy of Wellesley Hills and Saco, ME and the late Patricia (Gerow) McAvoy. Brother of Deborah Wirth and her husband Ralph of Louisville, KY; Shawn D. McAvoy and his wife Teresa of Naperville, IL; Betsy M. Manning and her husband Steve of Madison, CT; Susan M. Hugenberger and her husband Dana of Wayland. Also survived by 9 nieces and nephews, and 7 great-nephews.
Late member of Wellesley Jaycees, Nehoiden Golf Club, and Boston Amateur Golf Society. Michael served on the Wellesley Centennial Celebration Committee and produced the 100th Anniversary Video for the town and was a photographer for the Wellesley Townsman. Graduate of New Trier High School in Winnetka, IL and attended Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME. Michael enjoyed golfing, cycling, cross country and downhill skiing.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 477 Washington St. (Rt 16) Wellesley, Monday March 31 at 9AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Paul Church, Wellesley at 10AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Sunday from 4-8PM. Private interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
