John W. Scully, a longtime resident of Raynham and formerly of Taunton passed away on the evening of March 26th at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Scully was 82 years old. John was the loving husband of Maureen U. Scully (Grady) of Raynham. He is survived by his loving children; Susan Ventura and her husband Steven of Taunton, Jane Scully of Raynham, John W. Scully, Jr. and his wife Denise of Mississippi, and Paula Roderick and her husband Gary of Norton. John was the proud grandfather of Katie Walker, John D. Scully, Kevin Goslin, Eryn Barefoot, Nathan Ventura, Maria Ventura and Kimberly Roderick. Mr. Scully was the brother of Edward Scully of Taunton, Jean Moore of Florida and the late Robert Scully and Gerald Scully. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. John’s family is thrilled that he and Maureen will be great grandparents in May.
John was born on September 16, 1931 in Taunton, the son of the late John and Julia (Lacombe) Scully. He entered the United States Army and went on to serve our country honorably in the Korean War. John was employed at Pneumatic Scale Corp in Quincy as a mechanical engineer for 36 years and would later become Vice President of Engineering until his retirement in 1991. John was an avid golfer and member at the Poquoy Brook Golf Club in Lakeville. John and Maureen enjoyed going square dancing for many years. His children remember the fun times on his boat, “Moejestic”, named after his beautiful wife whom he shared a happy and love filled marriage with since 1952. John will be loved and respected by all who knew him, forever.
Visiting Hours will be held on Saturday March 29th from 9-10:30am in Taunton Funeral Home 8 Crapo St. Taunton. A Catholic Funeral Service will be celebrated in the funeral home at 10:30am.
