Obituary

SHREWSBURY-Burton W. Gardell, 73, of 36 N. Quinsigamond Avenue died peacefully Saturday, October 30th in Hospice Residence, 10 Judith Road, Worcester, after an illness. He leaves 5 sons, Geoffrey Gardell of W. Boylston, Stephen, Timothy and John Gardell, all of Worcester and Richard Gardell, 3 daughters, Christine Diggins and Kathleen McManus, both of Worcester and Pauline Anderson of Hardwick, his former wife, Nancy (Tivnan) Pedersen of Shrewsbury, a sister, Janice Beams of Worcester, 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Norman and Walter Gardell predeceased him.

He was born in Worcester the son of Ivan and Eve (Shippee) Gardell, graduated from Commerce High School and served in the United States Army. Mr. Gardell was an auto body technician for various companies and once operated his own shop.

After cremation, a graveside committal of ashes will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 3rd in Rural Cemetery. There are no calling hours. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, is directing arrangements.
