Obituary

Mary J. (McGinn) Corkery, a 45-year resident of Winchester, passed away at home lovingly surrounded by her family on March 24, 2014. She was the beloved wife of James M. Corkery of Winchester.
Born on Nov. 21, 1939 in Medford, Mary was the youngest and only girl of 5 children to James W. and Mabel G. (O’Connell) McGinn.
Raised and educated in Medford, Mary was a graduate of Matignon High and Stonehill College. Before starting her family, she was a pioneer in technology at MIT Lincoln Labs. She became a homemaker for 20 years while raising her family, and returned to a career in technology in the late 1980’s.
In her spare time, she and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout the world, returning to Italy many times, drawn by the food. She also enjoyed all types of needlework, and was a prolific knitter of mittens for her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Kathleen M. Pugh and husband Reed, and son Alex of Winchester; Tricia M. Fleury, son Ryan and daughter Kara of Atlanta; Sheila A. Rotramel and husband Eric and children Katie and Gus of Medford; Deidre E. Walsh and husband Rob, and children Chris and Laurel of Winchester; and Brian G. Corkery and wife Anne and children Grace, Casey and Emma of Acton. She was also the sister of the late Jimmy, Jack, Bobby and Dick McGinn and is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held from the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Sat., March 29 @ 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester at 10AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held in the funeral home on Friday from 5-8PM. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s Memory may be made to the Center for Cancer Care, c/o the Winchester Hospital Foundation 611 Main St.,Winchester, MA 01890.
