Gloria E. Menard, age 81, of Groton, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 24, 2014, at her home.
She is survived by her children Thomas Menard of Danielson CT, Deborah Menard of Woodstock CT, David Menard and his wife Joyce of Ledyard CT and beloved sister Marilyn Czerkies. She is also survived by many beloved Grand Children, Great Grand Children, Nieces and Nephews, and a host of friends from Grasso Gardens, the Groton Senior Center and her Church Family.
Gloria was born and raised in Utica NY and after raising her children became the first woman bus driver in New York State and then later opened her own Driving School in Whitesboro NY. Afterward she moved to Putnam CT and opened her Driving School which she owned and operated for more than 35 years with daughter Deborah; she then retired to Groton CT in 2004. In her retirement she loved Eastern Point Beach, Esker Point and most of all Avery Point. Gloria loved to participate in life; she joined the Groton Senior Center, joined the Sunshine chorus and loved gardening even up to her final years. She loved Family Gatherings, traveling, reading, and loved to study new things whether it was a spiritual philosophy or just a new Dollar Store.
Funeral services will be private for her family.
