Obituary

CHICOPEE – Wanda D. (Czupkiewicz) Stadnicki, 103, a longtime resident of Saratoga Avenue in Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, March 24, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Wingate at West Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Holyoke on November 23, 1910, a beloved daughter of the late Stanley A. and Mary (Zaftuck) Czupkiewicz and was raised and lived in Chicopee for most of her life. Her work career spanned over many years working at the Livingston Mills, Press Products, Church Manufacturing, Skinner Coffee House and Winfield Hat Shop. Active in her faith, she was a longtime communicant of the Basilica of Saint Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr in Chicopee. She was predeceased by her three husbands, Louis Lanord, Walter Kapinos, and Walter J. Stadnicki who was Called Home on February 4, 1992. Besides her parents and her three husbands, she was also predeceased by her two loving daughters, Doris R. (Dopkowski) O’Neil who was Called Home in 1971 and Gloria T. (Dopkowski) Fortin who was Called Home on February 11, 2013. She leaves her five cherished grandchildren, Debra Fortin-Brochu and her husband, Jon, and Wendy Fortin-LaRocque and her husband, Raymond, and William and Suzanne O’Neil, and Patricia Fournier; her cherished great granddaughter, Rachel Brochu; her cherished great-great grandson, Mason Newsome; her dear brother, Frederick Czupkiewicz of South Hadley; and her many dear nephews, nieces, and cousins. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning, March 28, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:15 a.m.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Basilica of Saint Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr, 570 Front Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery, 800 Montgomery Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 28, 2014 from 8:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
