Obituary

Methuen - Joanne S. (Curran) Morse, 82, formerly of Hampton, NH and Methuen, MA passed away peacefully March 22, 2014 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Andrew C. Morse.

Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Anastasia B. (Ryan) and James W Curran. She attended the Sacred Heart Grammar School in Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School in 1949. She continued her education at Lowell State Teacher’s College, where she graduated with a teaching degree in 1954. After a brief teaching career, she stayed at home to raise her family.

She was a member of the Sodality at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Hampton NH, where she served as Vice President, Secretary and President over the years. She was also a member of the Catholic Woman’s club. Prior to moving to Hampton, she was a member of St. Monica’s PTA and helped with their many events. She loved to travel with her family and friends, especially to Myrtle Beach, S.C. and on cruises. Joanne enjoyed reading, gardening and spending time with family at her beach house in Hampton, N.H.

She is survived by 3 daughters and 2 sons, Susan and her husband David Doyle of Billerica, Andrea Morse of Methuen and Mary Beth and her husband David McGlashan of Bradford, Mark Morse and his wife Anita of Chelmsford and Chris Morse and his wife Kim of Hampton NH.; 10 grandchildren, Joanna Doyle, Kathryn, Ryan and Daniel McGlashan, Patrick and his wife Karyn, Bridget, Greg and Ceara Morse and Andrew and Rebecca Morse. She is also survived by a brother Robert and his wife Maureen Curran of Lowell, and 2 sisters, Frances Kane of Westminister, MD and Ann Louise LeColst of Windham, NH. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law Gail (Griffin) Morse.

Family and friends will honor and celebrate Joanne’s life by gathering for calling hours at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen on Thursday, March 27, 2014 from 4 - 8 PM. Her Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday at 9 AM at St. Monica’s Church in Methuen. Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.

The Morse family would like to extend their gratitude to the Merrimack Valley Hospice for their care and support of our family and Joanne during her stay with them. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 North Avenue, Haverhill, MA 01830. The Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home is honored to serve the Morse Family.
