Lucien C. Bonin, 87, of Iron Mine Hill Rd, North Smithfield passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 19th in Overlook Nursing Home, Pascoag surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Theresa (Gagnon) Bonin. He was born in North Smithfield, a son of the late Fernando and Flora (Ouellette) Bonin.
Mr. Bonin was a WWII Navy veteran and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. He was a machine operator for Whitins Machine Works for many years, retiring in 1988.
He is survived by three children; Dennis Bonin and his wife Patricia of Andover, NH, Ronald Bonin and his wife Diane of Canaan, NH, and Joyce Clegg of Cranston, five grandchildren; Jason, Dan, Phil, Norman, and Nathan, three great grandchildren, and a brother Roger Bonin of Woonsocket. He was also predeceased by five older siblings.
His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:00AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St, Woonsocket, with a service in the funeral home beginning at 10:00AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Slatersville. Visiting hours are Monday 5-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: D.A.V. P.O.
