Obituary

Abington – Gilman S. Paulding 73, a lifelong resident of Abington, died Friday March 21, in his Abington home, surrounded by loved ones after a period of failing health.

Born in Boston and raised in Abington, where he had attended Abington schools, he was the son of the late Gilman S. and Eleanor (Gardner) Paulding.

Gilman was a skilled auto body repairman and before his retirement, had worked many years for Midway Auto of Abington.

He loved antique cars, and had attended many of the “car shows” in the area. He was an avid fan of the Patriots and Red Sox and had enjoyed his collection of sports memorabilia.

He was a familiar face in town as he treasured his many walks in the park with his dog.

He is survived by Rose Bartlett of Abington, and his children Dennis Paulding and his wife Lisa of Plymouth, Donna and her husband Filipe Miguel of Raynham, Vicki Hurcombe and her husband Richard of Duxbury and Melinda Wright and her husband Jerome of Brockton and his sister Barbara Geloran and her husband Tony of Pembroke. He is also survived by his grandchildren Elizabeth, Ethan, Emma, Melissa, Meagan, Chanice, and Jordan and his great grandchild Zaevyin as well as several nieces and nephew. He was the brother of the late Robert Jones and grandfather of the late Dennis and Justine.

His funeral service will be held Tuesday March 25 at 12 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in Spring Lake Cemetery, Rockland. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 11 AM – 12 PM.
