Alvaro Silveira, age 79 of Fall River, passed away March 20, 2014 at Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Center after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Alice (De Estrela) Silveira and the son of the late Dorvalino and Maria Lourdes (Martins) Silveira. Prior to retiring, Alvaro worked for the Nunes Construction Co. as a Carpenter. He also served in the Portuguese Army for 3 years.
Never one to complain, he remained content and still very much in love with his Alice. Whether it be Sunday outings with his wife and adoring sisters in law or providing rides to church, he always served others with a song upon his heart. With Jesus now, his everlasting legacy of love remains with us forever.
In addition to his devoted wife Alice of 52 years, he is survived by his children: Dennis Silveira (fiancée Lee Farias) of Fall River, Alice Couto (husband Luis) of Lakeville, and Sandy Sowersby (husband Steven) of Somerset; 6 grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. He was the sister of the late Vitalia Torres.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on SATURDAY at 9:00 A.M. followed by a funeral service in the Union Church, 600 Highland Ave., Fall River at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River.
