Harold M. Bacon, 71 of Londonderry, NH passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2014 surrounded by his loving family at his home. Mr. Bacon was born in Bay City, MI on January 13, 1943 a son of Ralph Bacon and the late Bessie M. (Edmonds) Bacon.
Mr. Bacon spent 15 years at Continental Group where he held many polymer container patents during his career. He founded H.M. Bacon Rod Co. in 1964 and developed new methods of constructing graphite and bamboo rods. Mr. Bacon was the recipient of many fly rod related awards. He was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church of Derry, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3023 and a Scoutmaster in Southern NH for twenty years.
In addition to his father, Ralph Bacon of Billerica, MA, he is also survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy L. (Coolidge) Bacon of Londonderry, four children, John Bacon of Derry, William Bacon and his wife, Heather Reimer of Londonderry, Kenneth Bacon and his wife Melissa of Lakeville, MA, and Jennifer Bacon of Londonderry, six grandchildren, Kaysie Thibodeau, Kyle Bacon, Elizabeth Bacon, Amber Bacon, Adam Bacon and Abigail Bacon; three brothers, Ralph Bacon and his wife Linda of Nottingham, NH, Dennis Bacon and his wife Mina of Westfield, MA and Wayne Bacon and his wife Birget of Billerica, MA; one sister, Judy Bailey and her husband Gary of Alfred Station, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Memorial calling hours were held on Friday, March 21 2014 from 5- 8 pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11:00am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry.
