Gary R. Pineo, 63

Dateline: Attleboro, MA

Gary R. Pineo, age 63, of Attleboro, formerly of Norton passed away peacefully at home, in the presence of his loving family on Sunday, March 16, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Louise R. (Goulet) Pineo to whom he was wed on August 26,1972.
Born in Norton, MA on September 2, 1950, he was a loving son of the late Arnold and Margaret (Innes) Pineo. He grew up in Norton and was educated in Norton schools.
During the Vietnam War, Gary proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marines. Following three years of faithful service, he was honorably discharged on July 31, 1971 with the rank of Lance Corporal.
Mr. Pineo had worked as a maintenance supervisor at the Bridgewater Nursing Home. He had made his home in Attleboro for the past 4 years and was previously of Norton for most of his life.
Gary was an active member and familiar face at the Norton VFW Post. Along with working at the VFW Post, he served various in capacities throughout the years. Gary had a great sense of humor and a natural way of making others around him smile and laugh.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted daughters, Mellisa M. Valequett and Tammy L. Couture both of Attleboro. He was the dear brother of Ruth Forget of CT, Norma Cole of Taunton, Pamela Porell of NH, Peggy Wynn of Pocasset, Susan DiTomasso of RI, Robert Pineo of FL, Bruce Pineo of Illinois and the late Beverly Houde and Arnold Pineo. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Susan and Victoria Valequett and Alexandria and Cavin Couture, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend graveside funeral services with military honors on Thursday, March 20th at 12:00 P.M. at the Timothy Plain Cemetery on Plain St. in Norton.
Visiting hours are omitted and in lieu of flowers, Mr. Pineo’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02108.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St., Norton.
