TEWKSBURY: Robert J. McCarthy, age 54, a longtime Tewksbury resident and Tewksbury Public School employee, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2014.
Born in Lowell on May 5, 1959, he was the son of Ruth M. (Morse) McCarthy, who survives him, of Tewksbury and former Tewksbury Assistant Building Inspector, the late John J. "Chuck" McCarthy, who passed away on November 4, 1995.
Bobby was raised in Tewksbury, attended Tewksbury Public Schools and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School in 1977.
For the past 21 years, Bobby worked for the Tewksbury Public Schools, primarily at the Loella F. Dewing School.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, vacationing at Lake Winnisquam and Lake Winnipesaukee, boating, fishing and snowmobiling.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, John D. and Kevin R. McCarthy both of Tewksbury; two brothers, John J. McCarthy, Jr. of Lowell and Timothy J. McCarthy and his companion Julie Nash of Tewksbury; one sister, Maureen A. Trovato and her husband John of Salem, NH; his former wife, Tracy M. (Sheehan) McCarthy; and his nieces and nephews, Jacob, John and Shannon Trovato, Colleen , Michael, Tim and Jesse McCarthy.
Calling hours Monday, March 17, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Tuesday, March 18, at 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. William's Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
