Obituary

Robert T. Shea, 92, formerly of Bellingham, died March 13 in the Medway Country Manor. He was the husband of the late Mary L. (Schroeder) Shea who died in 1999.
Born in Belmont, November 11, 1921, the son of the late John and Hattie (Roberts) Shea, Mr. Shea was raised in West Roxbury and had lived in Bellingham from 1965-1989. He retired to Florida in 1989 and lived in Haines City and Winter Haven, Florida until returning to Massachusetts last November.
Mr. Shea had worked for the Postal Service out of their Chestnut Hill location for over 37 years before retiring in 1988.
Mr. Shea had been a member of the Knights of Columbus in Florida, the Medway V.F.W. and was an avid baseball fan.
He served in the Army during World War II, attaining the rank of Private First Class. He saw action in the Rhineland and the Ardennes Campaigns.
Robert is survived by his children, Margaret a. Johnson of Milford, Jean P. Grota of Rehoboth and Michael P. Shea of Hazlehurst, Georgia. He was the father of the late Mary L. Shea and Robert T. Shea, Jr. USMC.
He is also survived by his brother John Shea of San Francisco, California and was the brother of the late Wilber and Bertha Shea and Isabelle Ryan.
He was also the grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather of 7.
He is also survived by his beloved dog Schroeder.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 18 from the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street Medway at 9:00 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Brendan’s Church at 10:00.
Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
Calling hours will be on Monday from 6-8.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Dighton-Rehoboth Marching Band, 46 Fairfield Street, Rehoboth, Ma 02769.
