Obituary

NATICK: Peter D. Christi, age 90, a longtime Natick resident, currently of Northborough, died on Tuesday evening, March 11, 2014, after a long illness. He was the devoted husband of Marion M. (Vangel) Christi for 61 years.

Born in Holliston, he was the son of the late Demetre and Thomaidha (Ndini) Christi. Peter was raised and educated in Natick and worked at Box and Board prior entering the Army serving as a private with the 9th division and later the 94th.

Peter was employed in sales for most of his career. He and Marion were married on June 1, 1952, and after working several years in the restaurant business with Marion’s father, Peter started with the Fuller Brush Company. He subsequently worked with Shakours Beauty Supply prior to establishing his own beauty supply business. Over several years of hard work, he was able to build a route of strong and loyal customers throughout the Greater Boston and MetroWest areas. Peter was still personally caring for a number of clients until his 75th birthday.

The Christi family enjoyed three or four day weekend expeditions to places from Cape Cod to New Hampshire every week throughout the summer months. Together they visited every New England beach and walked each amusement park. Peter enjoyed eating out and had such a gift for names and faces that nearly everywhere the family went, he would meet people or restaurant staff he knew. There was no better advertisement for a business than to have Peter in your corner. A phenomenal harmonica player, he loved big band music, dancing the jitterbug with his Marion, and sharing life experiences, new and old, with his grandchildren.

He is survived by Marion; a daughter, Stephanie J. Travis (Henry) of Northborough; two sons, Peter J. Christi (Roberta Gulick) of Holliston, and Mark S. Christi of Northborough; three grandchildren, Stephan, Demetrius, and Jessie; two sisters, Krisanthi Peters of CT, and Katherine Bishop of CA; and many relatives and friends. He was also predeceased by a sister, Vasilika Strickland.

His funeral will be at Albanian Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 37 Washington Street, Natick, on Monday, March 17th at 10:30a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Dell Park Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, Natick, on Sunday 2 – 5p.m. Donations may be made in Peter’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, 10 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
