Obituary

Shrewsbury— John E. Church, 58, of Shrewsbury, died suddenly on Friday, October 22, 2004, while vacationing in Virginia.

He leaves his beloved wife, Christine H. (Lindgren) Church; a son, Jonathan E. Church of Shrewsbury; a daughter, Karen L. Church of Worcester; a sister, Nancy J. Bokoske of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and nieces and nephews. A sister, Marie Condon, predeceased him.

Jack was born in Framingham, MA, son of the late Kenneth R. Church and Mary C. (Fee) Church. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. While serving as yeoman to the Captain of the USS Independence, his aircraft carrier circumnavigated the Arctic Circle. Prior to his Naval service, he graduated from Framingham High School and Quinsigamond Community College. After moving to Worcester, he graduated from Worcester State College in 1977.

Jack was a banker for many years beginning his career at Saver’s Cooperative Bank in Grafton and then serving in managerial positions at Framingham Savings Bank and Hudson Savings Bank. He also worked for Fidelity Investments in Marlboro and most recently at Fleet Bank/Bank of America in Providence RI.

Jack loved to travel and had a great thirst for knowledge. He was also an avid collector of historical memorabilia.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, October 28 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 29 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 551 Pleasant St., Worcester, MA. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The National Trust for Historic Preservation, Membership Services, 1785 Massachusetts Ave NW, Washington DC 20036 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
