Obituary

Theresa M. (LaFleur) Bartkus, 58, of Worcester died Saturday, March 8th at home. She leaves two daughters, Tasheena Laliberte and her husband, Justin of Worcester and Tara Grimes and her husband, Michael of Southbridge; three brothers, James LaFleur of Allenwood, PA, William LaFleur of Webster and Francis LaFleur of Worcester; two sisters, Jean Logan of Brookfield and Annmarie Patricks of North Brookfield; six grandchildren, Dominic Laliberte, Hailey Laliberte, Navaeh Grimes, Jordon Grimes, Haley Grimes and Savannah Robidoux and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, David LaFleur.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Francis and Mabel M. (Mulrain) LaFleur and graduated from the former David Hale Fanning Girls Trade School. Theresa worked for Bancroft School and was the Head Chef for over 20 years and previously worked at Heald Machine Manufacturing in the cafeteria until they closed. In 2010, she received the Isa Bayon Award at Bancroft School in recognition of “sowing the seeds of a lifetime” which is voted on by the faculty. She was very active in the school and was loved by everyone. Theresa worked the Summer Day Camp Programs and all the functions held by administration. She was also involved in the Elm Park Community Youth Outreach Program.
Her funeral is Thursday, March 13th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 10:00 AM in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, March 12th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
