Rose-Marie R. (Dupre) Cruz, 82, of New Bedford died February 27, 2014 at Sacred Heart Home after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Umberto "Battle" Cruz.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Armand and Celina (April) Dupre, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Cruz was a active communicant of of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church. She was a Eucharistic Minister and was the recipient of the Marian Medal.
Mrs. Cruz was formerly employed as a registered nurse at St. Anne's Hospital, Lancashire Textiles, Acushnet Nursing Home and private duty nursing for many years.
She was a graduate of St. Anne's School of Nursing. She enjoyed spending time with her grandson.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Sacred Heart Home for all the excellent care that Rose-Marie received over the last 2 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Annemarie Souza and her husband Scott of New Bedford; her grandson, Michael Scott Souza of New Bedford; her sister-in-law, Hazel Dupre of New Bedford; 3 Godchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Marcel Dupre.
Her Private Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, March 8th in the chapel at Sacred Heart Home. Burial followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
