Meredith B. (Calkins) Mather, age 85, of East Bridgewater, formerly of Brockton, died unexpectedly March 4, 2014 at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. Meredith was the wife of the late Philip F. Mather. Born and raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Walter E. and Mary (Field) Calkins. Meredith was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1946 and for many years was involved with its Reunion Committee. For over 30 years she taught ceramics and was the owner of Merry’s Ceramics Studio in Brockton. She was a longtime member of the Abundant Faith Family Church in East Bridgewater, where she assisted with the Food Pantry and attended Bible Study. She was a loving, caring, and faithful person who enjoyed her family and faith.
Meredith is survived by a son Donald Mather of Providence, RI and daughter Kathleen Manning and her husband Joseph of East Bridgewater; three grandchildren Donald W. Mather, Jr., Eric M. Maderios, and Kaitlyn E. Maderios; one great grandson Noah Mather; her sister-in-law Violet Mather of Avon and several nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Kyle Mather.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Friday 10-12 followed by a funeral service at 12:00pm. Burial in Melrose Cemetery.
