Francisco Silveira, Sr., 87, of Derry formerly of Somerville, MA, passed Friday February 28, 2014 at the Courville of Manchester, NH after a period of declining health. He was born April 10, 1926, in the Azore Islands of Portugal. Mr. Silveira had been a resident of Somerville, MA for over 20 years, prior to relocating to Derry 18 years ago. He was employed for over 30 years with Sexton Can Co. of Everett, MA.
Members of the family include his wife of 60 years, Leontina (Gonsalves) Silveira of Derry, one son and his wife, Francisco, Jr. and Cheryl Silveira of Derry, two grandchildren, Isabel P. and Francisco R. Silveira, also many nieces and nephews. Mr. Silveira was the last survivor and the youngest of 13 brothers and sisters.
Following cremation, a memorial visitation was held Tuesday March 11, 2014 from 5 - 7:30 pm with a service at 7:30 in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Burial of his cremated remains will be at Forest Hill Cemetery of E. Derry at a later date.
