MCMAHON, Katherine A., of Marshfield, 93, formerly of Hyde Park, February 28, 2014. Predeceased by her beloved husband Patrick McMahon and survived by her devoted sons Patrick and his wife Dely Lamshing of Burlington, MA and Newcastle, WA, Michael and his partner Phyllis Blumenshein of Zephyrhills, FL, and Kevin and his partner Ruth Grover of Bethel, ME. Also survived by her loving sister Wanda Kingston and husband John Kingston of Somerset, cherished sister-in-law Margaret “Peggy” Baldner of South Boston, loving grandchildren Sean McMahon of Glendive, Montana, Christopher and his wife Jillian DePete-McMahon East Stroudsburg, PA, and David and his fiancée Tara Elliason of New York City, and two great grandchildren Morgan Rose and Hayden Patrick.
Kay grew up in Whitman, MA and played field hockey and basketball at Whitman High School. Upon graduating she moved to Boston where she worked at Graybar Electric Corp. before getting married in 1946. She was an active member of Most Precious Blood parish in Hyde Park for 26 years while raising a family and working at Mello Fuel and Birmingham Oil Co. in Jamaica Plain. In 1972, she and her husband moved to Marshfield where she became a member of St. Ann’s parish. After her husband died in 1989, she became a “snowbird” by migrating to Zephyrhills, FL in the winter for the next 25 years.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 6th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Rte. 139 in Marshfield. Funeral Mass on Friday at 10:30 am at St. Ann by the Sea Church, 591 Ocean St., Marshfield, followed by burial at Couch Cemetery, Marshfield.
