Albert L. “Al” Courtemanche age 87 of Brockton died Sunday March 2, 2014 at the Baypointe Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a period of failing health. He was the devoted husband of Lillian Courtemanche for 65 years. Born in Brockton a son of the late Wilfred and Beatrice (Ledoux) Courtemanche, Al remained a lifelong resident of the city.
Albert was a machinist by trade and had worked at several Brockton area companies including Hall Motors and Carl Schuchert Machine. He had many varied hobbies including stamp collecting, photography, model railroads, gardening, big band music and genealogy. He was an incredible handyman who loved to tinker around the house and fix anything. Most importantly he was devoted to his home and family and he put them all first.
In addition to his wife Lillian he leaves four children John P. Courtemanche and his wife Denise of Hatfield, MA; Robert L. Courtemanche and his wife Eileen of Pollock Pines, CA; Mary-ann Lovetere and her husband Christopher of Brockton and James W. Courtemanche and his wife Kamala of Lexington. He was the loving grandfather of Melissa and Meredith Courtemanche, Tara, John and Emily Vilk, Alexander and Zachary Lovetere, Katharine and Marc Courtemanche.
He was the brother of Marie Cook of Delaware and the late John, Doris and Robert Courtemanche, Sylvia Coy and Dorothy Campbell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Wednesday 4-8 pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Thursday at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann Church West Bridgewater at 10am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
