Donald J. Shields, 77 years of age, passed away after a brief illness, Monday February 17th at South Shore Hospital.
Donald was born in Weymouth and graduated from Weymouth High School in 1954. After serving in the Navy, he graduated from Dean College in 1960. Donald spent many years in Hollywood, California, managing a ticket agency and working as an actor. He returned to the South Shore and his family and spent the last 13 years living at the Cardinal Cushing Apartments in Hanover.
Donald was the beloved uncle of Richard Maloney of Minnetonka, Minnesota; Paul Maloney of Salisbury, Maryland; Dorothy McDonald of Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia; Diane Spanos of Auburn; Maureen Mohr of South Weymouth; Joseph Shields of Bridgewater; Kathleen Hassan of Naples, Florida; and Jean Hoffman of Norwell. Don was predeceased by his brother Edward “Rah” Shields, his sister Helen “Sister” Maloney and his nephew James Maloney.
A funeral mass will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at Saint Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover Street, Hanover.
