New Bedford, MA.-Mary (Duarte) Gomes 86, died October 20, 2004 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility. Mrs. Gomes was the wife of the late Caesar Gomes. She was the mother of Irene Gomes, Elaine Goncalves, Loretta Gant, Kevin Silva all of New Bedford. She was the sister of the late Alvaro Duarte, Joseph Duarte, John Duarte. Mrs. Gomes was the grandmother of Gary Spearman of New Hamphere, Jeffrey Speaman, Raymond Gant, Aaron Gant, Kevin Leep all of New Bedford, and Michelle Gant of Florida.
Mrs. Gomes lived in this area all of her life. She was the daughter of the Antonio and Anna (Soares) Duart. She was a former member of the Cape Verdean Ultramarine Band Club-Ladies Auxillary.
Visiting Hours will be Friday October 22, 2004 from 5-8 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday October 23, 2004 at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 A.M. Interment will be at St. John Cemetery in New Bedford MA.
