Donald K. Marcheterrre, Sr., 55, died Wednesday evening at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Linda Marie (Griffin) Marcheterre. They were married on December 6, 1980.
Born in Hudson, MA he was a son of Judith (Bruen) Marcheterre of Hudson and the late Normand G. Marcheterre, Sr. He was raised in the Hudson/Marlboro area and lived in Woonsocket for over 25 years having also lived in Florida for 5 years.
Don was employed as a tow truck operator and mechanic for a number of businesses in the region having worked at Ace Towing in Bristol before retiring due to his illness.
Don’s favorite activities were camping, fishing and working on cars.
He was a devoted husband and father and truly loved his role as a grandfather and was more than happy to spend time with and spoil his grandkids.
In addition to his wife of 33 years, and his mother, Don is survived by three sons Donald K. Marcheterrre, Jr., and his wife Tania, and Paul Marcheterre, and his wife Tracey, all of Woonsocket, Gary Marcheterre, and his wife Andrea, of Germany, a daughter Christine Marcheterre of Woonsocket, six grandchildren Suhely, Jonathan, Tyler, Alexis, Samora and Trevor. He was the brother of Normand, Albert, Kevin, William, Edmund Marcheterre, Gloria Barry and the late Wayne Marcheterre. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Visiting hours will be Sunday from 1-4 pm in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will be private.
