Billie Jean Caldwell Barnes, 82, passed away on February 17, 2014 at home with family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and her husband, Armpstead Edward Barnes, Jr. Billie is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
A Southern Baptist by faith, Billie had a servant's heart. Because you could count on Billie, many did. She was counted on by hospital staff, volunteers, neighbors, organizations, friends and her family. After retirement, she served as a longtime volunteer with the Jewish Hospital system as well as her neighborhood association and was nominated for the Louisville WLKY Bell Award.
Her service will be Wednesday February 26th at 1:00pm at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be 10:00am-1:00pm Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers expressions to celebrate Billie’s life can be made in her memory to the animal care organization of your choice.
