Obituary

Delores A. (Cabeceiras) Barandas, 79, of Westport, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at St. Anne’s Hospital surrounded by her loving and devoted family. She was the wife of the late Benjamin Barandas.
Born in Fall River, Del was the daughter of the late Joseph C. and Mary (Pereira) Cabeceiras. Prior to her retirement, Del was the Office Manager for R.E. Couture Appraisal Service for 34 years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport, a member of the Columbiettes from the Knights of Columbus # 4753 Fr. Boehr Council in Tiverton and the Our Lady of Grace Seniors Club. Del loved spending time with friends and family, especially her grandsons. She enjoyed working outside, reading, making puzzles, watching the Celtics and the Red Sox, bus trips to Mohegan Sun and scratch tickets. Del went on many cruises and vacations with her husband and dearest friends. She also enjoyed ballroom dancing, square dancing and was a member of the Four Hands Round Square Dance Club.
Del is survived by her daughters: Donna Carvalho and her husband Joey of New Bedford and Laurie Drabble and her husband Charlie of Westport; 3 grandsons: Westley & Elliot Drabble and Ryan Carvalho; brother: Joseph Cabeceiras and his wife Evelyn; sisters: Mary McNulty and Dorothy Moreau; brother William Cabeceiras and his wife Maggie; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late John Cabeceiras.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the caregivers in the St. James Unit of St. Anne’s Hospital for their true compassion, sympathy and quality care during this difficult time.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 9:00 A.M. from the Potter Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7 P.M.
Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
