VIOLET LUCILLE PROBUS JACKSON SIMMS began her eternal life with Our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 18, 2014.
Lucy, as everyone knew her, lived to be 94 years old. She retired 32 years ago from General Electric where she worked for nearly 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bennie W. Jackson, father of her four sons, and her second husband, Frank Simms. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Gerald Jackson and Freddie Jackson, two sisters, and four brothers.
Lucy is survived by two sons, Joe (Marianne) Jackson and Ben (Linda) Jackson; a daughter-in-law, Rosemary Jackson; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and step-children, Joan (Malcolm) Brashear, Luther (Bernice) Simms, Donnie Simms, Edna (Rick) Dietrich and Robert (Kathie) Simms; as well as ten step grandchildren. She also is survived by eleven nieces and nephews.
The family wants to extend our sincere appreciation to God-sent angels, Lisa Stephens and Kathy Simms who have been great friends and support for many years. Lucy Simms was a member of Mt. Washington United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY. from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Bethany Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions to celebrate her life can be made via donations, in her memory, to the American Heart Association or Mt. Washington United Methodist Church.
