Dorothy L. Charlton
Beloved wife, mother and grandmother
TEWKSBURY: Dorothy L. (Mello) Charlton, age 84, a longtime Tewksbury resident, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital Saints Campus on Tuesday, February 18, 2014.
She was the beloved wife of Michael L. Charlton, who passed away on April 6, 1984.
Born in Cambridge on January 11, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Antonio Richard Mello and the late Olga Lillian (Smith) Mello.
Dorothy was raised in Cambridge and Tewksbury.
She attended Cambridge and Tewksbury Public Schools and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School.
Following high school, she attended hairdressing school in Lowell.
Prior to her retirement, she worked for the former Muro Pharmaceutical Company in Tewksbury.
Mrs. Charlton was a communicant of St. William's Parish in Tewksbury.
She is survived by three sons, Michael R. Charlton of Laconia, NH, Leo A. Charlton and his wife Diane of Tewksbury and Robert E. Charlton and his wife Nicole of Westford; four grandchildren, Justin, Jonathan, Amanda and Alex Charlton; one brother, Robert F. Mello and his wife Nancy of Melbourne, FL; one sister-in-law, Kay Mello of Dracut; also many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was the sister of the late Pauline Quinn, Kenneth N., Frederick E. and Richard E. Mello.
Calling hours Friday, Feb. 21, 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William's Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery.
