Rosa Massaro of Somerville died Saturday in the Park Ave. Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Arlington. Born in Italy, she was the daughter of the late Raffaele and Maria Liberata (Ventresca) Federico. After moving to the U.S., she spent four years in Boston before settling in Somerville where she lived for over 50 years.
Rosa was the beloved wife of the late Domenico Massaro, and devoted mother of Pierina Avellani and her husband Remo of Somerville, Cesidio "Sid" Massaro and his wife Jacqueline of Billerica. She was the loving grandmother to 9 grandchildren and the late Jacqueline, 13 great grandchildren, and sister of the late Domenico, Emilia, Carolina, Giuseppa, Francesco, Carmine, Anna and Clorinda. She is also survived by many loving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Friday, February 21 at 8:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, at 9:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden.
