Plymouth-Robert N. “Bob” Maglathlin age 89 of Plymouth passed away peacefully among family and friends at the Newfield house following a brief illness.
Born and raised in Kingston, son of the late Norman and Florence Maglathlin, he joined the U.S. Navy
V-12 program and served in active duty as Lieutenant JG on the USS Weiss during WWII. He graduated from MIT with Bachelors (1945) and Masters (1948) degrees in Electrical Engineering.
He worked for a variety of companies in the development of Radar and Missile technologies and was President of Electronic Systems, Inc. He joined Raytheon Missile Systems division in 1967 as Radar Systems Lab Manager. He retired in 1987 as Director of Development Engineering. Following his retirement he followed his lifelong interests of boating, travelling and spending time at “The Cottage” in Wareham, where he could tinker on his many projects.
He was the loving husband of the late Anne {Chadwick} Maglathlin and lived for many years in Norwell, where he served on various town boards and committees. Bob was a Mason and a member of the Cornerstone Lodge in Duxbury. Bob was also a member of the IEEE, the Association of Old Crows, and The American Defense Preparedness Association (ADPA)
Bob was pre-deceased by his brother Les Maglathlin and is survived by his sons Clark and his wife Trish, of Mooresville, NC, Howard and his wife Jean of Kingston, MA, Stewart and his wife Debbie of Millinocket, ME, Paul and his wife Louria of West Bridgewater, MA, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1, at the First Parish Unitarian Church in Norwell, MA at 1:00 in the afternoon. Friends and family are cordially invited.
