Ruth Vance Morley died February 15, 2014. The family will receive friends at the First United Methodist Church in Tifton on Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty Cemetery. Ty Vance, Brad Gowen, Michael Cannon, Robert Cannon, Brad Hartley and Vance Sledge will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Sledge, Bill Vance, Scott Schiller, Scott Chestnutwood, Holly Hall and Tim Collins.
She was born January 26, 1936 to Lucile Moore and William Hoyt Vance, Sr., both deceased. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Elizabeth Sledge; and one brother, Jor Vance. Ruth graduated from Tifton High School in 1954 and completed her associate degree from ABAC. She married Leland Scott Morley in 1957 while attending the University of Georgia and graduated the following year. Together they raised two children and built a successful veterinary practice. She was a member of Ty Ty United Methodist Church and PEO.
She is survived by her husband, son and daughter-in-law, James and Betty Morley; daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Alfred Crabtree, three grandchildren; three sisters, Ann Cannon of Columbus, Ernestine Clay of Macon and Martha Sue Gowen of Jacksonville, Florida; two brothers, Hoyt Vance Jr. of Tifton and Jimmy Vance of Madison; a large family and many friends.
