Obituary

Benjamin “Ben” Franklin Storey, 68, of Tifton died Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 17, 2014, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Edward Wood and Pastor Ronny Vice will officiate with burial to follow in Union Grove Church of God Cemetery. Craig Castleberry, Clay Tolar, Johnny Lipsey, Chris Storey, William Ferrell and Mike Shaw will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Ham, Joel Turner, Clyde Turner, Wallace Garmon, Ellis Harrell, Jerry Crumley, Jackie Crumley, Jimmy Crumley, Lee Ball Jr., Donnie Sumner and Michael Sumner. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 17, 2014, from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. Storey was born on May 22, 1945 in Calhoun County, Alabama and was the son of James Crawford Storey and Gladys Turner Storey, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one son, Eric Dewayne Storey; and two brothers, David Michael Storey and James Arthur Storey. He was a retired construction worker and police officer and was a member of Union Grove Church of God. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved gardening and making Brunswick stew. He also served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Storey is survived by his wife, Peggy Lewis Storey of Tifton; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Carla Michelle and Johnny Lipsey of Tifton, Sonya Denise and Clay Tolar of Tifton, Timmi Yvonne Storey of North Carolina and Nicole Storey of London, England; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie C. and Pam Storey and Scotty Leon and MariAnne Storey, all of Tifton; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Vivian and David Mercer of Tifton, Lillian and Jim Radford of Tifton, Nina and Gene Shaw of Chula and Wanda Ruth Storey and husband Darvin of Enigma; six grandchildren, Benjamin Chandler Keene, Dustin Lee Storey, Luke Storey, Jacob Lipsey, Zachary Tolar and Claire Tolar; one great-grandson, Ty Keene; and many nieces and nephews.
