John Maurice McGrath, 93, of Louisville, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Baptist Health. John was an Army WWII veteran of the 593rd, and organized numerous annual reunions for the Eng. Boat & Shore Reg. He retired from Devoe Paint Co, was a long-time member of the Torro Club, American Legion Post No. 220, served as the Commissioner of Shively Park in the early 1970s, and ran the Farnsley Golf Course for many years.
Preceded in death by the love of his life, who was affectionately known as Blondie, his wife Janet Loraine (Hauck) McGrath. He is survived by his loving family, a daughter Janice Hall (David); a son John McGrath, Jr., (Deb); four grandchildren Patrick McGrath, Douglas Early (Suzanne), Victoria Elridge (Colmon), and Brandon Hall (Alexis), and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10:00am Monday at the Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy. with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday 2:00-8:00pm.
