Obituary

HUNTINGTON – Michael J. Pietras, 62, of Huntington and a former longtime resident of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, February 9, 2014. He passed into Eternal Life from his home surrounded by his wonderful caregivers and all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Springfield on June 17, 1951, a beloved son of the late Max and Irene F. (Pelczarski) Pietras. He was raised in Chicopee Center and lived in the city for many years before moving to Huntington in 2007. As a special man, Mike enjoyed the simple things in life. He enjoyed watching game shows, traveling, visits to Burger King, apple pie, fishing, swimming and listening to the Beatles. He previously was a communicant of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Chicopee. He leaves his loving caregivers with whom he lived, William A. Shover and Charles D. Giguere both of Huntington; his sister, Diane M. Drobak and her husband, John, of Chicopee; and his two nephews, James Drobak and Christopher Drobak, both of Chicopee. His relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. which will be followed by a Prayer Service at 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
