Mrs. Virginia (Tanso) Benkus, 95, died Feb. 13 at the Rosewood Nursing and Rehab, Peabody. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Albina (Ercoline) Tanso and wife of the late Peter D. Benkus, who died Nov. 21, 2013.
Mrs. Benkus was a housewife who enjoyed tending to her husband and daughter and always being available with a helping hand to friends and neighbors. She was a loving wife, mother and sister who will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Wells and her husband Mark of Stoneham and predeceased by her sisters Victoria Alla and Rosalyn Tanso.
Service information: Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lynnfield, Monday Feb. 24 at 10:00 a.m., followed by her burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. At her request there will be no visiting hours.
