
Alice Ruth (Childs) Grennell, of Plymouth, died at Beth Israel – Plymouth on February 12th at the age of 97. The beloved wife of the late Howard F. Grennell, she is survived by her children Robert H. Grennell and his wife Christine of Manomet, David A. Grennell of Plymouth and Kenneth R. Grennell and his wife Kim of Manomet. She also leaves her sisters Harriett Schauer of FL and Edith Marsh of VA; 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Mother of the late Janice Drew and Jean Nickerson, sister of the late Prentiss Childs Jr and Walter Childs and grandmother of the late Linda Marie Drew and James Howard Drew.
Alice was born and raised in Plymouth where she was a deacon at the 2nd Church of Plymouth and was a volunteer at the Manomet Conservatory and at Jordan Hospital where she volunteered over 20 thousand hours. She enjoyed traveling, roses and daisies. Alice researched and wrote a book about Manomet and her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Visiting hours will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 619 State Rd (Rt 3A), Plymouth (Manomet) on Tuesday, February 18th from 3 to 7 PM. A funeral service will be held at the 2nd Church of Plymouth on Wednesday, February 19th at 11 AM followed by burial at Manomet Cemetery in Plymouth.
