Obituary

Cynthia Cohen, age 60 of Brewster, formerly of Provincetown, died at home on February 2, 2014 with her wife Kelli Dahl and her friend Steve Heath Donovan by her bedside. Born in New York City on February 19, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Nathan and Dorothy (Lipschitz) Cohen.

She had lived in Englewood, NJ where she was a detective in the Juvenile Department of the Englewood Police Dept. She was also one of the first female police officers on that department. She and Kelli moved to Provincetown when she retired in 2001 and were married in 2004. She had been living with cancer since 2011.

Cindy was an avid competitive racquetball player. She played in the co-ed league at Willy’s gym and the JCC in NJ. She loved to fly and was pursuing a private pilot license prior to becoming ill. Among her favorite pastimes was playing volleyball on the beach in front of St. Mary of the Harbor Church Provincetown every Sunday.

Besides her wife Kelli Dahl, she is survived by her daughter Skyelar Dahl of Brewster. A memorial service will take place in the late spring and the time and location will be posted on the Funeral Home website as soon as it is available.

In keeping with Cindy’s wishes, an educational fund has been established for the benefit of her daughter Skyelar. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Skyelar Dahl Education Fund, C/O Cape Cod 5, 2745 Main St. Brewster, MA 02631
