Mrs. Carol F. (Leonard) Carrier, of East Taunton, died Sunday, February 9 in the Beth Israel Medical Center, Boston, following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald F. Carrier. She was born 76 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late George F. and Gertrude (Mott) Leonard, Sr. She was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a Certified Nurse’s Aide at Taunton Nursing Home for a number of years. She was previously employed at Taunton State Hospital and at the former Rennie Curtain Company. Carol participated in the Cancer Society Relay for Life and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
She enjoyed gardening, casino trips with her best friend, Sandy Hayden, line dancing to country music, dancing and listening to Frank Sinatra, playing softball in her younger years, and entertaining at her home and by the pool with family and friends. the Matriarch of her family, Carol especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, proudly attending their sports activities, as well as helping and caring for others. She attended Holy Family Church in East Taunton.
She leaves: 1 son: Donald E. Carrier and his wife, Maureen of Mattapoisett; 1 daughter: Vicki Carrier and her companion, Kirk Beloli of E. Taunton; 5 sisters: Beverly Spearin and her husband, Richard of Taunton, Janice DeMoura of Taunton, Jacqueline Moniz and her husband, Charles of E. Taunton, Deborah Cardin and her husband, William of E. Taunton, and Donna Rusk of New York; 6 grandchildren: Cortney Morais and her fiancé, Nicholas Pothier, Bryant Nolette, Madison Coelho, Peyton Beloli, Brenna Carrier and Padraig Carrier; 2 great grandchildren: Cayden and Camila Morais, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also the mother of the late Lynda Carrier-Morais, the daughter –in-law of the late Adella Furmanik, the sister of the late George F. Leonard, Jr. and James Leonard, and the grandmother of the late D.J. Morais.
Visiting Hours will be held at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Saturday, February 22 from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. A Funeral Service will follow the Visiting Hours, Saturday at 11:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
