Ernest A. DeMattia, 75 of Medford, died Tuesday in his home following a lengthy illness. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Anthony and the late Esther (Meallie) DeMattia. Known to his friends and family as “Ernie”, he was a life long resident of Medford. He worked for over forty years in the produce industry. He was the proprietor of the A. DeMattia and Sons Produce Co. of Chelsea retiring in 1982.
Ernie is survived by his beloved wife Jeanette (DeAngelis). His children, Ernest A. Jr. of Fl., Carol A. Clark of Medford, Robert S. of Tewksbury and Janice M . Statuto of Medford. Also survived by ten loving grandchildren and three loving great grandchildren. Brother of George DeMattia of Burlington and the late Angie Harrington, Joseph and Dominic DeMattia. Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St. Medford, Friday at 8 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church 71 Warner St. Medford/Somerville at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours Thursday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
